Life Groups – Life is better Connected
God himself is in a community of three persons in one—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who exist in perfect unity. So it is not surprising that from the beginning, God created us to be in community with one another. Genesis 2:18 states: “It is not good for man to be alone.” This passage is often used in the context of marriage, but it also speaks to our fundamental need to connect with others in the human community.
It’s tough to have deep relationships by merely attending a big event like a church service. That’s where life groups come in. Real relationships are built out of shared experiences: meals together, conversations, adventures, serving others together, being there for each other when a need arises and creating memories together. As we follow Christ together, friendships emerge. It is more than just a Sunday thing. It is a way of life.
Life groups are so much more than sitting in a circle confessing our deep, dark secrets. We need to be real and authentic with each other, which requires relationship. Such relationships come through a life lived together. This means we take time to have fun, eat together, and share stories from our lives. Bible study is important, but so are trips to a park, weekend hikes and barbeques.
